Stepping Back

Yutang Lin

Criticizing this and ridiculing that at will,
Poking here and asking there to find out,
Not realizing one's standing being biased,
Only by stepping back can clarity regain.

Comment:

Usually criticisms and inquiries are based on presumed grounds. Whatever the views adhered to, they are distant from original purity because of dualistic conceptualization; therefore, in Dharma it is called "Hindrance of Knowledge." Only when one can step back from such presumed grounds and return to a state of non-abiding mind will clarity of mind be restored.
