Careful in Speech

Yutang Lin

Left unspoken, no disputes aroused;
Once mentioned, opinions rampant.
Giving advice depends on situation;
Easier to work if it's done in swing.

Comment:

Each holds on to personal opinions; left unspoken, no arguments would arise. Once some opinion is aired, it could become difficult for ensuing criticisms and discussions to cease. Before offering advice to others, first evaluate the situations. Only when the other party is willing to listen and accept could one speak up without fail.
