Mercy for All

Yutang Lin

Liberation from self is based on first seeing the reality;
All sorts of suffering constantly prevail in the universe.
Continue to pray single-mindedly for end of sufferings;
In oneness of Dharmadhatu no traces of self-set border.

Comment:

In order to become liberated from the tiny cell of self-centeredness, basically one needs to first recognize the reality. The reality is that in the universe all sorts of suffering constantly prevail everywhere. If one could single-mindedly and continuously maintain mercy for all beings that are suffering, and engage in praying, repeating the epithet of Buddhas or Bodhisattvas, repeating mantras of compassion, or making prostration to Buddhas or Bodhisattvas so as to supplicate for cessation of all sufferings, then one's mind is in oneness with the Dharmadhatu and will be free from sorrows that arise from enclosing oneself in a tiny nutshell that floats in an ocean.
