Reducing Possession

Yutang Lin

An airplane overloaded is bound to fly low;
So close to ocean that waves are of concern.
Soaring to safety requires luggage dumped;
Practitioners to attain high reduce baggage.

Comment:

An overloaded airplane would fly low as a result; consequently, its safety becomes an issue. In order to soar to higher altitudes its luggage need to be abandoned. Similarly, practitioners who aspire to reach higher planes on the Buddhist path could not remain loaded with possessions.

This work was inspired by a dream.
