Saving Buddha by a Header

Yutang Lin

As a huge rock flew toward Buddha, Vaisravana made a header;
To protect the Buddha, he is fearless about his own hurt or death.
Unless one is selfless and treasures Wisdom Life,
How could one respond to emergency in disregard to one’s own body?

Comment:

Daily I rinse the top of a small statue of the Heavenly King Vaisravana with clean water to comfort his headache left over from his brave deed when he made a header against a huge rock which was thrown toward Buddha by a devil. And thereby to pay respect to Him and to express a wish to follow his example. In this way I have practiced for years already.

Today during my daily recitation of mantras, while reciting his long mantra I thought of this great deed of his and gained deeper appreciation of its significance, and hence, I couldn′t help but to compose this praise to express my admiration to his holy characters!
