日夜見証生死苦,自然體會倖免無;

Awakening through Helping Others Yutang Lin

Day and night witnessing the suffering of life and death,
Naturally realized that there will be exemption for none.
To cultivate compassion one prays often for others' sake.
Repeatedly conformed to Bodhi, one stays off prejudices.

Comments:

To cultivate compassion one repeatedly prays for others' well-being. Through such practices to help save others one witnesses constantly the sufferings of life and death and the swiftness of the pace of impermanence. Thereby one gains experiences of suffering and impermanence beyond mere conceptual understanding. While the endless career of helping others to attain salvation has just started, the practitioner has already received through such participation much great benefits of awakening that could not be communicated in words.
