出乎偏執爭統轄,混同強制多折磨;

Melting in Harmony Yutang Lin

Out of prejudices arises fighting over control;
Mixtures by force brew conflict and suffering.
Limitless oneness allows freedom of activities;
Original purity returns by melting in harmony.

Comment:

Human relationships, based on biased grasping, always involve fighting over superiority and dominance. Forced mixtures and unity could hardly avoid abuses and tortures. If one could purify one's mind to the extent of appreciating the original state of limitless oneness, then it would become obvious that there is no harm in allowing freedom of activities without the need to require uniform compliance. In order to enjoy the ease of original purity courses of action must follow the guidance of melting in harmony.
