As requested by disciple Jing Xing below I had done the calligraphy.
And it turned out that my memory was correct. There is one word mistaken in the paragraph he sent.

Dearest Guru,

I read your talk already and must say it is easy to understand after your explanation. It seems to be another difficult methods for us to practise. It looks like whatever methods despite of different approach, somewhere at the middle of the practise the level of achievement will eventually become one and go along the same route until enlightenment.

That is correct. Whatever practice is just to go from a thoughtful mind to "naturally no thoughts" mind, and then from there to less and less subconscious grasping, until all are gone.

There was a saying that it is the most suitable practice for beings in this world, surprisingly I never heard people practise this. But now I know, whatever methods are all difficult to me, this one is much more difficult.
Indeed, who will spend years just listening without knowing what results will come?

Neither reciting name, always recommended by you, is easy, it is easy to us in the sense of most people doing it and therefore more familiar. Again, as far as reciting name is concerned, very rare that people has the same achievement and experience as you. I am thinking of why dont you also write your N ian Fo's experience in the similar manner like Guan Yin Yuan Tong.

No way to describe it. If you remember some words that will become a hindrance to advancement on the path of Nian Fo.

Another question is: is it possible to compare these two methods side by side? Although two are not the same practise, what is the significant difference and what is the similarity?
The different point is where the attention is paying to. The similar point is to become free from thoughts through concentration.

Don't try to compare; when you fly you forget about the water below, when you swim you forget the sky above.

My warmest Regards

Yong Lee

Below is disciple Yong Lee's request and my reply:

Jing Xing already requested this and I gave a short talk on it already. Mian Yan will do the transcript and then post the audio file. The audio file is over 11 megabytes, so I don't send it out by email.

When I checked the correct words on-line, I did google search on 楞嚴經觀世音菩薩耳根圓通章, and the first item showed up did have the correct wordings, but the explanation was terrible, and even section division in the paragraph was mistaken.

As to your question of "And how does it relates to reciting and concentrating on Buddha Name or Mantra?" It is different practice. Even though you can practice listening to your own recitation, it is not the same as Guan Yin Yuan Tong approach. If you want to practice Guan Yin Yuan Tong using recitation of Buddha name or mantra, then you have to play it by machine, instead of reciting it and listening to your own recitation. The reason is that Guan Yin Yuan Tong concentrates on listening and nothing else.

May all beings attain Enlightenment soon!
